Question: I cannot see the Library folder in OS Lion. Is there any way of seeing it?
Answer: Apple thought that, too often, Library folders were getting moved around by people who weren't 100% sure of the consequences (software not working properly) so decided to hide it. We, however, need regular access to these files . We reccomend using Terminal to change this.
Start terminal (found in the utilities folder in applications), copy and paste the following chflags nohidden ~/Library and then press return.
THREE FOUR DIGITAL SUPPORT
Welcome to Three Four Digital main support page. We will post here a selection of questions put to us by clients and anyone who wishes to get answers on technical issues or general info on the digital workflow. On the right you will find links to specif support pages. We hope they are of some use. Send us your questions to ask@threefourdigital.comQuestion: How can I set the ael button as a focus button on the Phase One 645DF?
Answer: Step 1: Set custom Function 9 to 1 (Swap function of AEL and AFL buttons)
Step 2: Change Custom function 12 to 1 (AFL to AF operation)
This will still keep the half press control over auto focus.
You can lock the focus by holding down the AEL button while triggering.
Step 3:
You can also disable the Half Press function by changing Custom Function 10 to 2
Question: How can I synch correctly at 1/1600s using LS lenses on a Phase One 645DF ?
Answer: Our advice is to set the 'V' grip internal transmitter to fast and pair it with a Profoto Air transmitter. Pocket wizards did not do the trick. The other solution is to hard wire the camera to the pack.
Question: What's the best printer at the moment for on set prints?
Answer: Currently we at Threefour use the Epson R2880. We have found that the Epson dynamic range to be pretty stable. To get the full potential out of these printers we got them profiled, thus ensuring the quality of image required on set. We also found the inksets in this printer can cope with the range of gamuts used on our shoots. For example one of our photographer shoots a lot of hair and we have found that browns and coppers can be difficult to emulate in print, but the R2880 seems to be holding up.
For location shoots the Epson PM260 is a great little printer and has the ability to print by the means of a battery.
Question: What's the difference between the 7D and 5D Mark II?
Answer: Both of these models have a lot of similarities. Please click here for the specifications.
The 7D has a smaller chip size but for video purposes is a great camera. It is more robust/weatherproof than the 5D, ability to shoot slower FPS (frames per sec) and has a warning light when overheating.
The 5D has a full frame chip size, which is good for shoots that do not need large file sizes in comparion to a digital back.
So if you want to shoot solely video I would go for the 7D, but if you want the ability to shoot small campaigns and shoot video, use the 5D.
Question: Can you send me the resolution of the different cameras?

Question: I am off on holiday and wanted to know what is the best camera to get? Better than those point and shoot though.
Answer: Well here is our top three:
1 Canon G12:
The best Canon compact there is. Slightly chunkier than a point and shoot . All manual settings avaible as well as automatic.
Video isn't amazing but still...
2. Fuji FinePix x100:
Gorgeous and stylish camera that will go well with any suit :) Great build and image quality. Its a bit fiddly but when you get the hang of it its great. Its not cheap :(
3. Panasonic GF2:
Nice camera with some impressive video capture. It's quick with excellent raw image quality.

Question: When I am batch processing in Capture One Pro 6.2.2, when sometimes and completely randomly will it only process say 1/3 of the images selected, say 75 out of 300 images....
Then sometimes it won't process any and if I quit Capture one and try it again it processes everything!!! Any ideas???
Answer: It could be a glitch with 6.2.2 working with the update of OSX 10.6.8. I would recommend:
- waiting for all images to load in C1. Making folder favorites will speed up load time when you open it again.
- empty the batch queue folder - home - library - application support - capture one - Batch Queue 5.1
- delete the process recipe and create new one.
There is a case open on this on the Phase one forum
